Johnson Naylor were lucky enough to get an insight into how some of our favourite pieces of furniture are created. Carl Hansen aim is to make pieces of furniture that respect sustainability whilst still retaining more than 100 year old traditions of craftsmanship.
With a form uniquely it’s own, the CH24 wishbone chair holds a distinct place in the world of modern design.
Over 100 steps are required to manufacture each chair, most of which are carried out by hand. The hand woven seat takes around an hour to create using 120 meters of paper cord that gives the chair both stability and durability as well as distinctive and refined aesthetic form.
An important part of our job as designers is to specify pieces of furniture that will last the test of time.
We’ve chosen the Hans J. Wagner’s CH33 chair, primarily because of their simplicity, aesthetics and functionality. These assets make them the perfect chair to compliment the Sovet dining table in this Barts Square penthouse.
